Stella Middleton McElroy Perry

Mrs. Stella Middleton McElroy Perry, 85, of Richmond, passed away Saturday evening, May 16, 2020 at the Madison Health and Rehab Center.

Stella was born in Madison County on August 20, 1934 to the late William Hickle and Nettie Hensley Middleton. She was a retired night dormitory supervisor at EKU, where she worked for 21 years. She loved the years she spent at EKU. She worked in Combs, Sullivan, Miller, Beckam, McCreary, McGregor and Telford Halls, as well as several other ones in the summer sessions. Many of the girls referred to her as "Mom" and she thought of them as her "girls." She will always be remembered as a loving, friendly person who always had a smile for everyone.

Mrs. Perry enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and attending her church.  She was a charter member of the Clarksville Baptist Church and a member of the Women Together for Christ. On May 1, 1965 she was united in marriage to Arnold Perry, Sr., and together they enjoyed 34 years together before he passed away.

Survivors include: three sons, Donald McElroy, of Liberty, KY, Arnold Perry, Jr. (Kathy), of Richmond, Douglas Perry (Shellye), of Waco; four daughters, Sondra Hallinan (Howard), Brenda Turner, Pat Joines (Henry), and Barbara Harsch (John), all of Richmond; one brother, Johnny Middleton (Joyce); one sister, Margaret Brock; numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren; a special nephew, Richard Quarrles; as well as a host of other family and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by: one son, Paul McElroy, two grandsons, Phillip McElroy and Jeffrey Perry; two son-in-laws, Eddie Ramsey and Billy Turner; two brothers, Henry and Tommy Middleton; one sister, Barbara Cody; and one daughter-in-law, Nannie McElroy.

Funeral Services were private under the direction of the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Bro. James Hardin and Bro. Bradley Johns officiating. Entombment will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were: Richard Quarrles, John Harsch, Henry Joines, Brad Perry, Zachary Perry, Matthew McElroy, and Michael Hardin.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: members of the Clarksville Baptist Church and Women Together for Christ.
