George Linden Pfotenhauer, Jr.
April 3, 1943 - May 4, 2021
Mr. George Pfotenhauer, Jr., was born on April 3, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois and died at his home on May 4, 2021, after many struggles with his health. Just as he dealt with all experiences, he managed his final illness with quiet strength and grace, relying on his faith in God.
In 2004, George retired from EKU, after 35 years as director of Instructional Media. During that time he was an active member of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT).
He was a member of Southland Christian Church, and served as deacon, elder, trustee and treasurer to the former Westside Christian Church. He was a 40-year member of the Richmond Lodge #25, F&AM: the former secretary-treasurer of Richmond Chapter #16 Royal Arch Masons, Richmond Council #71 Royal and Select Masters and Richmond Commandery #19 Knights Templar. He encouraged the arts as a member and treasurer for the Cecilian Club, a local organization that promotes music education.
George enjoyed traveling, fishing, working outside, card games, the theater and gadgets of all kinds (especially electronic ones). He loved to be part of everything, quietly enjoying the world around him, never desiring the spotlight. He treated everyone with dignity, taking care of his family and other responsibilities with love and excellence.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Harriet Pfotenhauer; two daughters, Sara Callison (Travis), and Linda Webster (Matthew); two granddaughters, Charlotte and Julia Webster; and his brother, Paul Pfotenhauer (Sue).
