Rev. R. Ricky McGee Jr.
Rev. R. Ricky McGee Jr., age 44, of Richmond, passed away at his home Friday, October 8, 2021.
Rev. McGee, the son of Ralph and Delores Stevenson McGee, Sr., was born in Monroe, Louisiana on April 24, 1977. He made the decision to serve God at a young age and, as a teenager, answered the call to preach. He attended Indiana Bible College where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Theology.
On September 6, 1997, Rick united in marriage to Rebekah Lynn Blanton McGee who survives.
Rick was a true renaissance man. He was a talented artist, writer, musician, and illusionist, but first and foremost, he was a minister of the gospel and a church planter. He was the founding pastor of Joyful Life Ministries of both Richmond and Lancaster and served as Kentucky Missions Secretary for the United Pentecostal Church International. In addition to pastoring, he was employed as Catalog and Curriculum Coordinator at Eastern Kentucky University. He enjoyed outdoor sports such as kayaking, hiking, and hunting and was an avid collector of vintage toys, fountain pens, and Fantastic Four comic books. Rick brought joy and spread smiles everywhere he went through his kindness, authenticity, sense of humor, and outgoing personality.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is also survived by two children: Jaecob and Yarisa McGee; his brother and sister-in-law: Steven and Valerie McGee; four sisters: Brenda (& Melvin) Mack, Jamie (& Ron) Pickering, Jennifer (& Frank) Sheremetta and Melanie McGee-Dorsey; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: James and Ruth Norris Blanton; his sisters-in-law: Angela (& David) Pearson and Bethany (& Joe) Gigold and several nephews and nieces.
Besides his father, Rev. McGee was also preceded in death by their daughter: Alison McGee and two nieces: Maicy McGee and Piper Gigold.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Joyful Life Ministries, 1421 Goggins Ln., Richmond with Rev. Wayne Naylor, Rev. Joel Richardson, Rev. Robert McManus and Rev. Gary Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 p.m. Monday at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: Steven McGee, Brett McGee, Frank Sheremetta, Richard Marzec, Samuel McManus, and David Pearson.
