Linda Brashear, 80, of Richmond, the wife of Phil Brashear, passed away on October 15, 2021 after a long and blessed life.

Linda was born March 13, 1941 at Proctor (Lee County) Kentucky, the daughter of the late Roscoe Porter and Effie Brandenburg Porter. Linda graduated from Hazard High School and attended Cumberland College, where she was a soprano soloist with the college choir. She met her future husband at Cumberland, and they were married on December 16, 1961. Early in their married life, Phil and Linda lived in Richmond, where Linda worked at Eastern Kentucky University and gave birth to their older daughter. The other two children (twins) were born in Athens, Georgia, where Phil spent two years in graduate school before returning to Richmond. In 1985, the family moved to Dayton, Ohio, where Phil and Linda lived for 25 years before finally moving back to Richmond.

In addition to her husband of 59 years, Linda is survived by three children: Margaret Brashear (Tabitha Howe), Philip Brashear (Jennifer Miracle) and Kimberly Campbell (Wesley), all of Lexington; seven grandchildren: Bridjet Agee of Richmond, Philip Hunter Brashear (Caitlin Edge Brashear) of Austin, Texas, Bailey Kelly, of Lexington, Zach Wellington, Isaac Wellington, Emma Wellington and Abby Wellington; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Sue Porter.

Funeral service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond. Private family entombment will be in the Madison County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be after 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home.

There will be a live-stream webcast of the service available on our website beginning at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mrs. Brashear are suggested to the Hospice Compassionate Care Center, 350 Isaacs Lane, Richmond, Ky. 40475.
