Dr. Kenneth Ted Clawson, 85, husband of Bobbie Eileen Henley Clawson, died on Friday, April 21, 2023 in Richmond, Kentucky.

He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Henley Clawson; one son Ted Clawson and his wife Pam; two grandsons, Matthew Clawson and Alex Clawson.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sondra Eileen Clawson.

Born on March 11, 1938, to the late Ted and Edith Greene Clawson in Boone, North Carolina where he grew up on a farm in Watauga County. He attended a four room Elementary School.

At age 16, he and his parents moved into town. (Boone) After graduating high school, he attended Appalachian State University and graduated with a Bachelor and Master Degree in Biology /Teaching. While in attendance he enjoyed being a Sports Announcer for the University Football and Basketball games. Ken went on to obtain a Doctoral degree from Florida State. Ken and Bobbie met at Appalachian State University during their Freshman year. They married in June 1958. Throughout their lives, they have lived in many places: North Carolina, Georgia and Florida.
They moved to Kentucky in 1968, when Ken started working at Eastern Kentucky University.

Ken served as a Professor and Dean for many educational institutions: University of Georgia, Tipton Campus, Tipton Georgia Lake City Jr. College, Lake City, Florida, Florida State Jr. College, Jacksonville, Florida and Eastern Kentucky University, Richmond, Kentucky.

Ken was a proud member and supporter of First Baptist Church, Richmond, Ky. He served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Committee Member and Church Bus Driver.

Ken has served on many Community and State Organizations over the years. He has been a lifelong Kiwanis member, joining the organization in 1964. He was a past Kentucky/Tennessee Governor.

Ken enjoyed many thing in life. Most of all he enjoyed traveling, over the years he has visited 48 states in the US, traveled to Canada, China, France, Greece, Italy, London, Paris, Rome and Turkey. Ken's family is his most proudest accomplishments: Bobbie, Eileen, Ted, Pam, Matthew and Alex.

Ken will always be remembered by his wife and family members, as well as his friends and colleagues.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at the First Baptist Church in Richmond, KY at 1:30 p.m. with Bro. Bill Fort and Dr. Travis Farris officiating. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be the deacons of First Baptist Church. Honorary bearers will be members of the Richmond Kiwanis Club.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Hospice Care Plus, 350 Isaacs Lane, Richmond, KY 40475.

The family wishes to express a special "Thank You" to Baptist Health Hospital, Lexington and Telford Terrace, Richmond.
