Mr. Jack Blanton, age 83, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022, at Compassionate Care Center.

Mr. Blanton, the son of the late Delbert and Bessie Gabbard Blanton, was born in Jackson County on November 9, 1938. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, playing his guitar and singing gospel music. He had attended the Valley View Holiness Church. His family and friends will remember him as a hard working but gentle, calm and wise man who led his family with love and admiration for each of them.

Jack united in marriage to Wilma Dunn Blanton who preceded him in death on January 2, 2013.

Survivors include: one son: Wayne (& Donna) Blanton of Richmond; three sisters: Betty Buttrey, Pearl Murray and Minnie Hacker; six grandchildren: Laquetta (& Sam) Singh, Jennifer Shelton and her fiancé Mike Mulligan; Sirena (& Brandon) McKinley, Steven (& Ashley) Shelton, Jack A. (& Brittany) Blanton and Savannah Blanton; 12 great grandchildren: Amber Blanton, Salem Schaeffer, Destiny Schaeffer, Heaven Schaeffer, Maddison McKinley, Savannah McKinley, Gabriel McKinley, Lana Fultz, Lane Harvey, Landon Shelton, Kinley Shelton and Kennedy Shelton; four great great-grandchildren: Eleanor Webb, Clementine Teater, Marceline Trimble and Juno Ahaus; his son-in-law: Wesley (& Lisa) Shelton and several nephews, nieces and cousins.

Mr. Blanton was also preceded in death by one son: Mark Blanton; his daughter: Joyce Ann Shelton; one brother: Bill Blanton and two sisters: Thelma Blanton and Martha Blanton.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 27, 2022, at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Ferrel officiating. Burial will follow in the Flatwoods Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Steven Dunn, Brandon McKinley, Salem Schaeffer, Tristan Toomey, Jack A. Blanton, Sam Singh, Lane Harvey and Jarod Teater.

Wesley Shelton will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

The family wants to express their deep and warm appreciation to Lisa Shelton for her labor of love as Jack’s caregiver.
