Douglas Couch Rogers
Douglas Couch Rogers, age 73, passed away December 20 at his home in Lexington, Ky. Born March 8, 1948 in Little Rock, Ark., he was just eight days old when adopted by Ruth and James D. Rogers of Pine Bluff, Ark., where he lived through his high school years. After high school, Doug spent time as an officer in the Arkansas National Guard and, following discharge, went on to obtain college degrees in electrical engineering and broadcasting.
Following marriage to his wife, Linda, and the birth of their daughter, Jennifer, Doug and his family moved to Lexington, Ky. where he began his 20-year career at Eastern Kentucky University as a professor of communication.
Staying busy after retirement, Doug enjoyed spending much of his time playing the part of a world famous DJ in the virtual reality realm of Second Life, loving every minute of it.
Toward the end of his life, Doug became reunited with members of his birth family, including five sisters and one brother, his gratitude for which, often found him speechless in awe. He will be greatly missed.
A viewing will be held at the Kerr Bros. Funeral Home on Harrodsburg Rd. Sunday, Jan. 9 from 2 - 4 p.m, followed by his Celebration of Life service from 4 - 6 p.m. Anyone who wishes to bid Doug farewell is invited to come pay their respects and share their stories of him at this time.
