Calvin Jefferson Tolar
Calvin Jefferson Tolar, 86, husband of the late Betty Marie Jackson Tolar, died Friday, June 17, 2022, at his home in Richmond, Kentucky.
Born on February 11, 1936 in Houston, Texas, he was the son of the late Colquit Don Tolar and Maybel Grabow Tolar. Calvin was a retired psychologist and professor at Eastern Kentucky University where he was the director of The Counseling Center for 27 years.
Calvin received his doctoral degree from East Texas State University, his Master's degree from Baylor University, his seminary degree from Baylor University and his Bachelor's degree from East Texas Baptist University. He had written several journals that were published university text books and was a member of the Madison County Club.
He is survived by one son, Jeffrey Lynn Tolar of Richmond, Ky.; two step daughters, Leslie Lingle Cain of Lexington, Ky. and Julie Marie Lingle Carlisle of Lexington, Ky.; four grandchildren, Amber, Emily, Natalie and James; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Nancy Malstadt and Lola Streaker, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Calvin will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at The Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home followed by a gathering of friends at the Madison County Club.
