Dr. Ron G. Wolfe

March 15, 1941-May 15, 2020

Dr. Ron G. Wolfe, 79 of Richmond, KY, died Friday, May 15, 2020, at his residence as a result of metastasis of ocular melanoma from 22 years ago, which reoccurred in his liver. Ron, the youngest of eleven children, was born on March 15, 1941 in Falmouth, Ky. to Pearl and Leslie Wolfe.

A graduate of Morgan High School, Eastern Kentucky State College, Ohio University and the University of Kentucky, Ron Wolfe is a shining example of how hard work and a love of learning can take you anywhere. During his career, Ron served as Director of Alumni Affairs and Chair of the Department of Mass Communications at Eastern Kentucky University. He also served as Associate Dean of the College of Communication and Media Sciences at Zayed University in Dubai, UAE.

He dedicated countless hours to a multitude of organizations including the Lambda Sigma National Honor Society, Society of Foundation Professors, Project Read, Habitat for Humanity, Kiwanis Club, American Cancer Society, Kentucky Special Olympics, and the First United Methodist Church of Richmond.

Although his list of accomplishments is long, he is most remembered for his joyful smile, his humble spirit, and his willingness to support and help whenever needed. Ron was a true example of what it means to be the hands and feet of Christ.

Ron is survived by his wife, Ruth Wolfe, two daughters, Ashley Wolfe Elsasser (Chip Elsasser) of Chapin, S.C. and Raegan Elizabeth Hicks (Scott Hicks) of Nicholasville, Ky; four grandchildren, Jackson Prescott Hicks, Katelyn Elizabeth Elsasser, Heidi Grace Hicks, and Connor Glenn Hicks; two surviving brothers, Paul Wolfe and Marvin Wolfe; and two surviving sisters, Zola Moore and Reta Wright.

He was predeceased by his parents; three sisters, Laverne Wolfe, Zelma Wolfe, and Aleada Beighle; and three brothers, Leslie Wolfe, Llano Wolfe, and a stillborn son who was not named.

The burial service will be for immediate family only. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Special thanks to Hospice for their care and support during his final days.
