Dr. Morris D. Taylor

Dr. Morris D. Taylor, 87, of Owensboro, Ky, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Hermitage Care and Rehab in Owensboro. He was born on April 14, 1934, in Mitchell, Ind., the son of the late William Glenn Taylor and Georgia (Fortner) Taylor. Dr. Morris was a member of the White Oak Pond Christian Church. He was a Purdue graduate, and earned both his undergraduate degree and Ph.D. in chemistry. He spent the majority of his teaching career at EKU.
Dr. Morris, a Kentucky Colonel, was an active member of the community for many years, including membership in the Kiwanis Club. He also enjoyed fishing and making wine in his spare time. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin and Michael Taylor.
Survivors include his wife, Joan (Nichols) Taylor; two sons, Richard Morris Taylor of Richmond and David (Colleen) Taylor of Owensboro; daughter, Margaret Ann (Keith) Morgan of Castaic, Calif.; sister, Margaret Ann Harris of Indianapolis, Ind.; and four grandchildren, George Nathan (Kimberly) Taylor, Emily M. Taylor, Jeffrey Keith Morgan and Cody Morgan.
A graveside service was at 1 p.m., Thursday, July 15 at Scottsburg Cemetery with Matt Craig officiating, with internment at Scottsburg Cemetery in Scottsburg, Ind.
