Dr. Arlene Cooper

Dr. Arlene Cooper, 85, of Red Wing, Minn., died on Sunday, January 26, 2020, at St. Crispin Living Community. She was born in Red Wing, on August 25, 1934, to John and Claribel (Seeley) Maier. She graduated from Maiden Rock High School and received her PhD from IndianaUniversity. Arlene was a professor of Psychology and Counseling Education at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky for many years. On August 22, 1953, she was united in marriage to Dr. Donald Cooper, a professor of music at Eastern Kentucky University. Following Donald's death on April 9, 1988, she returned to Red Wing and taught at the University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie for a number of years. She was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Indiana Hoosiers. Arlene was an athlete and enjoyed running, even in her later years. She also enjoyed reading, coffee parties, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son, Timothy Cooper; sister, Marlys Pfluger; nieces, Kay (Don) Trulen and Kristi (Bill) Mullen; and nephew, Kip (Lisa) Massett.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; sister, Gloria Massett; brother-in-law, Gene Massett; nephew, Barry Pfluger; and brother-in-law, Lee Pfluger.

Memorial service was  on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, Red Wing, Minn. Online condolences may be sent to the family at mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
