Carol Joyce Teague

Carol Joyce Teague, 80, passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021 at Kenwood Health and Rehabilitation.

Carol was born on May 26, 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio, and was the daughter of Robert Emmett Joyce and Carolyn Leverett Joyce, both of whom preceded her in death. She taught math courses and served as a research consultant at Eastern Kentucky University before becoming the director of Academic Computing.

After retirement Carol volunteered with many organizations, touching numerous lives in the Richmond community. She served on the boards of Home Meals Delivery and Project Read, and worked with the Salvation Army’s Christmas gift programs. She was instrumental in bringing the AARP Foundation’s Tax-Aide program to Richmond, and volunteered many years helping people file their taxes. Carol volunteered a couple days a week at the Richmond Senior Citizen Center where she assisted seniors with Medicare issues through the State Health Insurance Program (SHIP).

Survivors include: her husband, Charles Teague; one son, Andrew Franklin Teague, of Lexington; one daughter, Nancy Joyce Teague (Farid Jarrous), of Silver Spring, Md.; and two grandchildren, Colin and Aidan Teague.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Emmett Joyce II.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home is serving the family.
