Anna Estelle Williams Way, 91, of Richmond, the widow of James S. Way, passed away Friday, May 22, 2020 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.
She was born February 21, 1929, in Covington, Ky. to Burnett E. and Lillian S. Ingles Williams, both of whom preceded her in death. Anna formerly lived in Cynthiana, Ky. and also attended Kentucky State College, where she was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She was married to the love of her life, James S. Way on November 19, 1950. Anna worked as an administrative assistant from 1969 until 1991, when she retired from Eastern Kentucky University. Anna had been a member of St. James A.M.E. Church in Cynthiana and was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Richmond.
Survivors include two daughters, Jannette “Jan” Way Rudolph of Louisville, Melissa Way Cozart (Harvey) of Richmond; two sons, James “Rusty” Sherman Way, II of Winter Park, Florida, William “Billy” Burnett Way (Terri) of Richmond; one sister, Sara E. Page of Hampton, Virginia; grandchildren, Aaron, Rachel, & Raphael Way, Justin & Brandon Rudolph, William “Tony” Way (Nicole), Isaiah & Michala Cozart; two great-grandchildren, Devin & Devon Martin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Burnett Williams, Jr. of Cincinnati, Ohio.
All are welcome, but due to current restrictions with limited capacity, observance of social distancing and masks are requested. The visitation was on Friday, May 29, 2020, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home.
The funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 30, 2020, at the First United Methodist Church in Richmond with Pastor Gene Strange and Pastor Bruce Nettleton officiating.
